Four sourcing themes define the 2026 exhibition

Eco Expo Asia 2026 is organised around four principal themes. Together, they cover environmental technologies for transport, buildings, cities, industrial operations and resource management.

Exhibition themeSelected technologiesMost relevant visitors
Green Energy in MotionSustainable fuels, EV charging and vehicle electrificationTransport operators, fleet managers, energy companies and infrastructure developers
Frontier Green TechAI, IoT, environmental data, sustainable materials and university researchInvestors, manufacturers, technology buyers and corporate sustainability teams
Building for a Greener CityGreen buildings, environmental monitoring, noise reduction and energy efficiencyProperty developers, facility managers, architects and public authorities
From Waste to WorthRecycling, waste-to-energy, smart waste systems and ESG dataMunicipal authorities, manufacturers, property operators and waste-management companies

Green Energy in Motion

The Green Energy in Motion area covers lower-carbon transport across aviation, road and other mobility applications.

EcoCeres is presenting sustainable aviation fuel and hydrotreated vegetable oil produced from waste-based feedstocks. TriTerra Technology is showcasing a slim wall-mounted DC fast charger, while Refined Motor is exhibiting a modular system for converting selected conventional vehicles to electric power.

For international buyers, comparing charging speed or headline emissions figures is not enough. Important evaluation points include:

  • Product and electrical certification
  • Compatibility with local power infrastructure
  • Battery and fire-safety requirements
  • Installation and maintenance costs
  • Availability of replacement components
  • Verified lifecycle-emissions data
  • Local technical and warranty support

Buyers interested in the wider battery and electric-mobility supply chain can also read ChinaExpoHub’s coverage of the World Power Battery Conference.

Frontier Green Tech

Approximately 30 start-ups and university spin-offs are participating in the Frontier Green Tech area, presenting solutions intended to move environmental research towards commercial use.

The Chinese University of Hong Kong is showcasing high-strength bacterial-cellulose films made from tea waste. The material could be used for sustainable packaging or bio-based alternatives to leather.

Lingnan University is presenting an AIoT and GeoAI fleet-management system designed to predict congestion and accident risks. Stellerus Technology is showcasing the Multi-Spectral Imaging Carbon Observatory, or MUSICO, which has been deployed on China’s Tiangong space station to collect greenhouse-gas observation data.

The Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation is leading a group of 11 park companies, while the Hong Kong Pavilion brings together 19 local businesses. The Environmental Campaign Committee is also presenting 22 start-ups.

These areas can help buyers identify emerging technologies before they reach wider international distribution. However, purchasing teams should determine whether each product is:

  • A research prototype
  • Undergoing pilot deployment
  • Ready for commercial production
  • Certified for the intended market
  • Supported by an established manufacturing and service network

A technically promising product may still require additional development, testing or localisation before it is suitable for an overseas project.

Building for a Greener City

The Building for a Greener City area focuses on technologies for energy-efficient, resilient and more liveable urban environments.

Products include IoT-based systems for monitoring air pollution and noise, modular hydropower equipment for recovering energy from building water systems, automated construction equipment and acoustic windows designed to reduce urban noise while maintaining ventilation.

For property owners and facility managers, the most useful comparison is usually total lifecycle performance rather than the purchase price alone. Suppliers should be asked to provide:

  • Results from completed commercial projects
  • Documented energy or resource savings
  • Installation requirements
  • Integration with existing building systems
  • Maintenance schedules and expected equipment life
  • Local after-sales support

From Waste to Worth

The From Waste to Worth area brings together waste-to-energy systems, recycling equipment, AI-enabled sorting technologies and digital waste-management platforms.

Chongqing Sanfeng Environment is presenting waste-to-energy projects, while Baguio Green Technology is demonstrating a smart waste-management system combining recycling equipment, IoT technology and a data platform.

Green AI Technology is also introducing an unmanned recycling station that uses AI to check whether materials have been correctly sorted.

Digital waste platforms may help companies collect information for sustainability and ESG reporting. Buyers should nevertheless verify how the data is generated, whether performance can be independently audited and whether the platform can connect with existing corporate reporting systems.

ASEAN Pavilion strengthens regional sourcing opportunities

A major addition in 2026 is the new ASEAN Pavilion, which features 12 green-technology ventures from seven countries:

  • Singapore
  • Laos
  • Malaysia
  • The Philippines
  • Indonesia
  • Thailand
  • Vietnam

Participating companies cover areas including water treatment, green buildings, the circular economy, environmental products, green finance and ESG services.

The pavilion allows visitors to compare solutions developed for Southeast Asian operating conditions while giving ASEAN companies access to buyers, investors and potential partners from Hong Kong and the Chinese mainland.

Other international pavilions include Canada, Italy, South Korea and the Netherlands. Chinese mainland participation includes Qinghai, Guangxi, Hunan, Shanghai and Nanjing, together with companies from nine cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

GoGlobal Connect links Chinese suppliers with overseas markets

The new GoGlobal Connect Zone is intended to help Chinese mainland environmental companies expand internationally through Hong Kong.

Its programme brings together technology suppliers, overseas industrial parks and professional-service organisations covering finance, certification, investment and international project development.

Representatives of industrial parks in Malaysia and Thailand are participating alongside organisations including the Bank of China (Hong Kong) and the Hong Kong Accreditation Service.

This makes the zone relevant to:

  • International distributors seeking Chinese environmental products
  • Industrial parks looking for technology partners
  • Project developers sourcing equipment for ASEAN markets
  • Chinese companies preparing for overseas expansion
  • Certification, finance and market-entry service providers

Participation in the programme should not automatically be treated as evidence that a supplier is ready for international projects. Buyers should still check export experience, relevant certifications, overseas references, contractual terms and the availability of local technical support.

Government buyers outline future procurement needs

Eco Expo Asia combines conventional B2B sourcing with access to public-sector organisations.

At the Government Department Forum, representatives of Hong Kong departments covering environmental protection, civil aviation, infrastructure, electrical and mechanical services, and water supplies are scheduled to discuss operational requirements and procurement needs.

For exhibitors, these sessions can provide useful information about the problems public authorities are trying to solve. They do not guarantee access to government contracts. Companies will still need to satisfy the applicable procurement, certification, cybersecurity and data-protection requirements.

This is particularly important for suppliers offering connected sensors, cloud platforms or AI-based monitoring. Buyers should establish where operational data will be stored, who can access it and whether the system can meet local security requirements.

More than 30 forums cover policy and commercial deployment

The supporting programme includes more than 30 forums and thematic sessions involving over 80 representatives from government, industry and academia.

The principal Eco Asia Conference covers environmental policy, green finance, building technology, climate monitoring and industrial applications.

The 7th Hydrogen Economy Forum, scheduled for 28 October, will examine green fuels, energy storage and potential hydrogen applications in Hong Kong.

Start-up sessions will also explore how environmental research can be moved from universities into commercial markets. For buyers and investors, these discussions may help distinguish technologies already delivering measurable results from those still requiring pilot projects or further financing.

Visitors should review the official Eco Expo Asia programme before arriving, as attending a small number of relevant technical sessions may provide more value than trying to cover the entire conference schedule.

Combine Eco Expo Asia with Hong Kong’s lighting fairs

The Hong Kong International Outdoor and Tech Light Expo is taking place alongside Eco Expo Asia at AsiaWorld-Expo from 26 to 29 October.

The Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Autumn Edition) runs from 27 to 30 October at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Together, the exhibitions cover environmental technology, smart buildings, outdoor lighting, connected infrastructure and energy-efficient urban systems. This creates useful crossover opportunities for property developers, municipal buyers, lighting professionals and smart-city project teams.

ChinaExpoHub’s guide to the Hong Kong tech fairs provides further information about the concurrent exhibitions.

Free shuttle buses operate between selected exhibition venues, transport interchanges and hotels. Routes and times should be confirmed through the organiser’s transport information.

Is Eco Expo Asia 2026 worth visiting?

Eco Expo Asia 2026 is particularly relevant to:

  • Environmental-technology distributors
  • Corporate sustainability and ESG teams
  • Property and infrastructure developers
  • Municipal and government buyers
  • Energy and transport companies
  • Waste-management operators
  • Manufacturers seeking resource-efficiency solutions
  • Investors evaluating green technologies
  • Overseas companies looking for partners in China and ASEAN

The exhibition’s value lies in the combination of established environmental companies, start-ups, university research, government participation and regional pavilions.

For international visitors, the most commercially useful areas are likely to be the ASEAN Pavilion, GoGlobal Connect Zone, government procurement sessions and technology sections presenting solutions that have already progressed beyond the prototype stage.

Buyers should arrive with a defined operational problem, shortlist relevant exhibitors and prepare questions about certification, completed projects, costs and local support. This will make it easier to separate commercially deployable technologies from early-stage demonstrations and general sustainability marketing.

Eco Expo Asia 2026 continues through 29 October at AsiaWorld-Expo. The final day is open to the public with free admission. Trade visitors should register in advance to avoid the HK$100 onsite registration fee.
