Bakery China Autumn Reports 50% International Buyer Growth and Moves to Chengdu in 2027

The 11th Bakery China Autumn 2026

Bakery China Autumn 2026 recorded approximately 100,000 visits in Wuhan, while organisers reported a 50% increase in international buyer attendance. The autumn exhibition will move to Chengdu for its next edition in October 2027.

The 11th Bakery China Autumn, ninth China Home Baking Show and sixth Bakery China Summit took place from 22 to 24 October 2026 at the Wuhan International Expo Center.

Co-organised by the China Association of Bakery and Confectionery Industry and Bakery China Exhibitions Co., Ltd., the three-day programme combined a trade exhibition with conferences, competitions, business matching, retail workshops and market visits.

The organisers said participants came from 65 countries and regions, reflecting growing international interest in China’s bakery, confectionery and fresh-snack supply chains.

International buyer attendance rises by 50%

Bakery China reported approximately 100,000 visits during the Wuhan exhibition and a 50% increase in international buyer numbers compared with the previous edition.

The organiser did not publish the absolute number of overseas buyers or explain whether the growth calculation was based on registrations, verified admissions or unique attendees. The 100,000 figure represents visits rather than necessarily 100,000 individual visitors.

International buyers represented six principal commercial channels:

  • Bakery and foodservice chains
  • Fresh-snack retailers
  • Independent bakeries
  • Supermarket bakery departments
  • Industrial baking companies
  • Distributors and wholesalers

This buyer mix makes the autumn exhibition relevant not only to ingredient and equipment suppliers but also to companies offering contract manufacturing, retail systems, cold-chain services, packaging and store-development solutions.

Fresh snacks become a central sourcing theme

Bakery China Autumn 2026 was held under the theme “From Trends to Practice”, with particular attention given to turning consumer trends into commercially viable products and retail formats.

Exhibition areas covered:

  • Healthy baking ingredients and products
  • Regional speciality foods
  • Frozen-to-fresh bakery products
  • Short-shelf-life fresh snacks
  • Premium chocolate
  • Bakery equipment and production technology
  • Packaging and store solutions

A dedicated supply-chain showcase presented fresh products and bakery formats designed for supermarkets, snack retailers and other high-turnover sales channels.

The exhibition also hosted the Fresh Snacks Innovation Competition and released the organiser’s White Paper on China’s Fresh Snack Market 2026. Summit discussions examined the size and structure of the market, potential growth categories and operational risks associated with fresh products.

The white paper was announced during the exhibition, although the press release did not provide a public download link or disclose its complete methodology.

Retail workshops address waste and store operations

Short shelf life can create substantial operational challenges for retailers selling freshly prepared bakery and snack products. Unsold inventory, forecasting errors and inconsistent storage conditions can quickly affect margins.

A practical workshop held during Bakery China Autumn addressed several of these issues, including:

  • Reducing losses from short-shelf-life products
  • Refining clean-label formulations
  • Planning fresh-snack store layouts
  • Improving production quality control
  • Converting existing retail space for fresh-food sales

Participants also visited a production facility and fresh-snack stores in Wuhan. These visits connected exhibition-floor discussions with actual manufacturing and retail operations.

For international buyers, such programmes can offer useful insight into how bakery products are manufactured, merchandised and sold in China. However, commercial concepts observed during a study visit still require evaluation against local food regulations, labour costs, cold-chain capacity and consumer preferences in the buyer’s target market.

Business matching connects suppliers with retail channels

The fourth Business Matchmaking Event for Supermarket and Fresh Snack Decision-Makers brought suppliers together with procurement and channel representatives.

Discussions covered:

  • Product selection
  • Private-label and contract manufacturing
  • Regional distribution
  • Store conversion
  • Ingredient development
  • Cooperation between retailers and upstream suppliers

The exhibition supplemented its onsite meetings with the iBakeryChina digital platform, allowing participants to continue supplier discovery and communication online.

When evaluating a potential bakery supplier, international buyers should confirm whether the company is the actual manufacturer or a trading intermediary. They should also request information about minimum order quantities, production capacity, export experience, food-safety systems, allergen controls, shelf-life testing and required certifications for the destination market.

Bakery China Summit examines changing sales channels

The concurrent Bakery China Summit focused on market development, industrial upgrading, retail operations and changing sales channels.

Four sessions examined:

  • Bakery and food retail channels
  • Industrial baking
  • Independent bakery operations
  • Bakery-chain management

Speakers discussed membership-based supermarkets, new fresh-food retail models and cooperation between snack businesses and ingredient suppliers.

Skills and entrepreneurship were also represented through the China National Baking Skills Competition and a bakery startup competition. These activities expanded the programme beyond product sourcing to include workforce development, technical capabilities and new business concepts.

Bakery China Autumn moves from Wuhan to Chengdu

The organisers confirmed that Bakery China Autumn 2027 and the China Home Baking Show 2027 will take place from 15 to 17 October 2027 at the Chengdu Century City New International Convention and Exhibition Center.

The move from Wuhan to Chengdu gives participating suppliers greater access to western China’s bakery, retail and foodservice markets.

Chengdu also provides a different commercial setting from the larger spring exhibition in Shanghai. The autumn event is positioned around second-half purchasing demand, including sourcing for New Year, the Spring Festival, weddings, tourism and seasonal gift markets.

Businesses considering the Chengdu edition should monitor the official exhibitor list, international buyer services and conference schedule as these become available.

Bakery China confirms three exhibitions for 2027

The Bakery China network has announced three major events for 2027:

ExhibitionDatesVenueMain focus
Bakery China 202717–20 May 2027National Exhibition and Convention Center, ShanghaiFull bakery and confectionery value chain
Bakery ASEAN 202726–28 August 2027Jakarta International Expo, IndonesiaBakery sourcing and expansion across ASEAN
Bakery China Autumn 2027 and China Home Baking Show15–17 October 2027Chengdu Century City New International Convention and Exhibition CenterAutumn sourcing, fresh snacks, retail channels and regional markets

The flagship Shanghai edition is expected to cover 330,000 square metres, host more than 2,200 exhibitors and brands, and generate approximately 400,000 visits, according to the organiser.

These are projected figures rather than final results. Exhibitors and buyers should review confirmed participation lists and programme details closer to the exhibition.

Which Bakery China event should international buyers attend?

The most suitable edition depends on the buyer’s objectives.

Bakery China in Shanghai is the stronger option for companies seeking the widest possible selection of industrial equipment, ingredients, packaging, finished products and international suppliers.

Bakery China Autumn in Chengdu may be more suitable for businesses interested in fresh snacks, bakery retail formats, regional distribution and commercial opportunities in western China.

Bakery ASEAN in Jakarta is relevant to companies developing distribution, manufacturing or retail partnerships in Southeast Asian markets.

International buyers planning a broader China sourcing trip can also compare Bakery China with other food, beverage and hospitality trade shows in China. For a more immediate sourcing opportunity, the FHC Shanghai Global Food Trade Show 2026 takes place from 10 to 12 November and includes bakery products, confectionery, ingredients, food-processing equipment and packaging.

The strong reported international growth in Wuhan is encouraging, but the commercial value of the event will ultimately depend on the relevance and quality of its buyers. Prospective exhibitors should ask organisers for country-level visitor data, buyer job functions, purchasing authority and channel breakdowns before committing to the 2027 editions.
