Hotel & Shop Plus Shanghai 2027 will bring hospitality design, building technology, hotel operations and commercial-space solutions together at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre from March 30 to April 2, 2027.
Organiser Sinoexpo Informa Markets expects the exhibition to cover 210,000 square metres, bring together more than 2,000 participating brands and exhibitors, and attract approximately 130,000 professional buyers and visitors. These are organiser forecasts for the coming edition rather than confirmed attendance figures.
The exhibition will cover the complete development and operating lifecycle of hotels, retail properties, offices and public spaces—from planning and design to procurement, construction, operation, renovation and maintenance.
Expanded H-S-O-P ecosystem covers four property sectors
Hotel & Shop Plus has expanded its original hotel-and-retail concept into what the organiser calls the H-S-O-P Ecosystem, representing hotels, shops, offices and public spaces.
The official exhibition overview lists sectors including:
- Construction materials and interior finishes
- Hotel supplies and sanitary products
- Lighting and landscape design
- Smart-building and digital-management systems
- Service robots and operational technology
- Cleaning and laundry equipment
- Low-carbon and energy-saving solutions
This multidisciplinary structure should allow project owners and purchasing teams to compare individual products alongside integrated solutions. A hotel developer, for example, could evaluate interior materials, lighting, building controls, cleaning systems and operational technology during the same exhibition visit.
The show also brings together several specialist events, including the Shanghai International Hospitality Design and Supplies Expo, Expo Build China, China Clean Expo, the Shanghai International Hotel Investment and Franchise Expo and exhibitions covering lighting, landscaping, smart retail and facility management.
New zone targets energy-efficient hotel systems
One of the most commercially relevant additions for 2027 is the Hotel Energy-Saving MEP and Comfort System Design Zone. MEP refers to the mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems that influence a building’s energy consumption, operating costs and indoor environment.
The new zone will focus on energy-efficient equipment and intelligent management technologies intended to support lower-carbon hotel operations. Relevant solutions may include heating and cooling, ventilation, water management, lighting controls, energy monitoring and integrated building-management systems.
For hotel owners planning renovations, products will need to be assessed against installation costs, compatibility with existing systems, guest comfort, maintenance requirements and expected payback periods. International suppliers should therefore prepare measurable performance data and completed project examples rather than relying on general sustainability claims.
Franchise, wellness and pet-friendly concepts receive dedicated areas
The 2027 edition will introduce more than 15 themed exhibition zones, several of which address changing hotel business models and customer expectations.
The Hotel Investment and Franchise Zone is intended to connect investors with hospitality brands and franchise opportunities. The organiser’s 2027 announcement names IHG, Hilton and Marriott among the hotel groups expected to be represented in the zone.
Investors evaluating franchise opportunities should compare management and franchise fees, property-conversion requirements, regional demand, operational support and projected returns rather than relying on brand recognition alone.
A SPA Multi-Scenario Healing Zone will present wellness-oriented spaces and related products. Potential opportunities extend across treatment equipment, specialist furniture, lighting, materials and technology for hotels, resorts and other commercial wellness facilities.
The Pet-Friendly Thematic Exhibition Zone will focus on facilities and design solutions for properties accommodating guests with animals. This may include room design, durable materials, hygiene systems and dedicated pet-service areas.
These specialised zones could help hotel and commercial-property operators identify new services, differentiate their properties and respond to more specific customer groups.
Digital systems and service robots enter hotel operations
Digitalisation is another central theme of Hotel & Shop Plus Shanghai 2027. The exhibition will combine smart-building systems, digital-management platforms and service robots with conventional architectural and interior products.
Hotel operators assessing these technologies should consider whether they can reduce repetitive work, improve response times or support a more consistent guest experience. Important evaluation points include integration with existing property-management systems, maintenance arrangements, cybersecurity, multilingual support and total operating costs.
Technology providers will need to show how their systems perform in realistic commercial environments. A service robot or management platform offers limited value if it cannot work reliably alongside existing employees, software and building layouts.
More than 90 supporting events planned
The organiser expects to hold over 90 conferences, design forums, product launches and networking activities alongside the exhibition. These sessions will examine subjects such as hotel investment, commercial design, building operations, sustainability and emerging technologies.
Business matching will also be available through the organiser’s digital sourcing platform. The organiser says its buyer resources extend across more than 170 countries and regions, although no detailed geographical breakdown has been published for the 2027 audience.
International companies should arrange priority meetings before travelling rather than relying only on encounters during the exhibition. Preparing Chinese-language product information, technical certifications, target pricing and a clear follow-up process will also make discussions with potential buyers and partners more productive.
For visitors, the most effective preparation will be to define a specific sourcing or project objective and shortlist suppliers by product category, certification, installation requirements and after-sales support.
Hotel & Shop Plus Shanghai 2027 will provide a broad view of how hotels and other commercial properties are being redesigned around energy efficiency, digital management and changing customer requirements. Its greatest value should be for developers, operators, designers and procurement teams seeking solutions across several stages of a property project.
